Anyone who drives, knows that it can be hard to maintain a clear driving record. There may be the odd parking ticket and you may have even been caught speeding – oops!

For most of us, this is not a big deal and we simply pay the fine and try not to do it again. However, for chauffeurs, their driving records are very important as if they want to work for a reputable limo hire company, or set up a reputable chauffeur driven limo, they need to have a clear driving record.

Most limo hire companies will ask to see a potential chauffeur’s driving records, or simply run a background check on them and find out first hand. This is a quick and easy way for the limo hire companies to whittle down the applicants for chauffeur positions with their company.

However, there are some things which don’t always show up on driving records, such as accidents the driver has been involved in. This can then make it harder for limo hire companies to choose chauffeurs for their business.

While the limo hire company should do a full background check on their chauffeurs anyway, it is also up to the chauffeur to be honest with their potential employer about their driving history. Like in any interview or application, you shouldn’t lie to your potential employer, it is better to be upfront in the beginning, than to be caught out later.

However, while many limo hire companies will consider a chauffeur’s driving record, they may be willing to accept a chauffeur who has a blemished record, depending on the severity. There are many other things which make a good chauffeur and some chauffeurs may simply need to be sent for more extensive training.
